TOUR – Moab UT

September 23 @ 8:00 am - September 24 @ 5:00 pm

Welcome to the IRPCA/RMR  “Shootout at the Border- Part Deux” driving tour. This overnight tour will begin on the morning of September 23rd. Intermountain PCA region (IRPCA) members will meet at a point to be determined in either Salt Lake or Utah Valley. Rocky Mountain Region PCA members will meet at a location near Golden, Colorado. Details and times for both start points will follow to registered participants at a later date. Both groups will join up in Utah and slither into Moab around 3-4 pm on the 23rd. There will be an optional dinner river tour on the 23rd with a registration deadline of AUGUST 23rd (I’m trying to get an extension, but please register asap if you want the a guaranteed seat and discounted price). The combined regions will tour to the Gateway Auto Museum in Gateway Colorado on September 24th. Our host hotel for this overnight tour will be “The Gonzo Inn”. If you book at the Gonzo Inn (435-259-2515), please be sure to mention the Group Code: IRPCA. Rooms are very limited.  Other recommended hotel options are available right next door at the Downtown Moab Hotel and across the street at the Best Western Plus- Greenwell Inn. All three are perfectly located at the center of downtown Moab, and within 100 yards of each other for easy gathering with friends once we get to Moab.

A special OPTIONAL event will be held on Saturday evening about a 10 minute drive from the hotels. The event called “Canyonlands by Night” will include a “Cowboy Buffet” , followed by a spotlight illuminated jet boat tour up the Colorado River, highlighting the geologic and settlement history of the river and region. It IS an optional event, as there are lots of places to eat and hang out within 3 blocks of the hotel in downtown Moab. We have a special rate per person, of $61 including tax and gratuities (versus a normal price of $69 excluding tax and gratuities). This rate will hold as long as we get 20 or more people signed up for the dinner and tour. As IRPCA will be billed for our attendees 30 days in advance, we will be asking for you to decide “yay” or “nay” on the boat tour, during this registration process. Dinner will be at 6pm and the boat tour will depart from the dinner location at 7pm, concluding shortly after 9pm. More details on the activity can be found at www.canyonlandsbynight.com.  We’ll be back in Moab with plenty of time for continuing fun into the evening! Dinner and tour reservations made after August 23rd, may be sold out, or may be subject to the un-disounted rate of $69 per person plus taxes and gratuities. If you are signing up after this date and want to join the dinner tour, please contact the organizer (Rich Sanders at 801-231-0400), who will contact to tour operator to confirm availability and rate per person.

Sunday’s tour will head south and east from Moab to the Unaweep Tabeguache Scenic Byway in Colorado, and will then head north to Gateway Colorado where we will end the joint tour at the Gateway Auto Museum. Museum details can be found at www.gatewayautomuseum.com

Registration for this tour closes September 15.

This is a special invitation intended primarily for Rocky Mountain, Intermountain and Western Slope Alpine Mountain Region members, from Rich Sanders, Zone 9 representative. But if you are reading this, you are welcome so long as you are up for the drive!!

By popular request, we are going to repeat the 2015 Moab to Gateway Tour sponsored by Porsche Salt Lake City. For those who went on the inaugural tour, you will recall that we combined RMR and AMR members, in a rendezvous with IRPCA members on the way into Moab. We’ve kept the route the same (route I-70 all the way for those coming from Denver), but changed the hotel and social details to keep it fresh and fun. Registration is now open at http://www.msreg.com/moab2017.

(Sign up NOW if you want this option as our special rate cut-off date has passed, but it still appears they are keeping the option open as we await an invoice from the tour company)
