SUMMARY:TOUR - Spiral Jetty
DESCRIPTION:Perfect for Macans and Cayennes! Suitable for all the rest.\nWe currently have offers of backseats from 3 vehicles. Let me know if you want a ride from the GSNHS to the Jetty.\nWho wants to see a piece of man-made art that also can be seen from space?\nSpiral Jetty is located 15 miles south of Golden Spike National Historic Site (GSNHS...we were there three years ago).  This is a Cayenne/Macan off road tour but all Porsches are welcome to GSNHS. It is a mix of gravel and dirt roads out to the jetty.  It can be very dusty/muddy depending on the obvious.  Your stock Porsche has the necessary ground clearance and off road tires aren't needed.  We are bound to see other types of cars (Subie\, GM\, Ford\, etc.\,) that have a bit more clearance.\nThe pre-tour meeting will be at Grounds For Coffee (Pam's place) at 375 State Street in Clearfield at 10:00 a.m.  Safety brief and waiver signing at 10:30 and on the road not later than 11:00.  First stop will be just past Corinne\, Utah\, at the Bear River Co-Op.  Gas\, bathrooms and food are available. Second stop (final for Porsche cars) is at the GSNHS visitors' center.  This is the last "indoor" bathroom stop.  The visitors' center itself doesn't open for tours until the second week in May\, but they have nice bathrooms that are open year 'round.\nPlease let me know if you know you are going on the tour and are willing to take a passenger or two from the GSNHS to the Jetty. Also let me know if you are looking for a ride to the Jetty from the GSNHS. We will do our best to accommodate.\nWe leave for the last leg of the jetty journey after that pit stop.  As for phone reception\, the vistors' center parking lot might be the last place we'll have it.  After that\, it is "hit or miss" with "miss" being the norm.\nOnce at the jetty\, I'd like us to park as close together as we can for a photo op.  The Spiral Jetty is very visible (and a short walk) from the road since the GSL has receded.  It is a 1\,500 foot spiral\, 15 feet wide\, made of black basalt rock covered in a thick salt crust.  Truly a sight to experience...\nThis is where the tour concludes.  Weather permitting\, we can enjoy our snacks and do a little exploring.  Please come with us and enjoy a grand view!\nIf you have any questions please contact tour leader Brian Pusey at bdpjrcayman@gmail.com\nCheck back for updated details.\nSponsored by Porsche Lehi

SUMMARY:AX - Davis County Fairgrounds: CANCELED due to weather
DESCRIPTION:Unfortunately\, a poorly-timed winter storm has forced us to cancel this event. Please join us for the next one at Maverik Center on Sunday\, April 8!\n\nOur FIRST autocross of 2018! Please come out and join us at Davis County Fairgrounds on Sunday\, March 18th\, sponsored by Porsche Lehi. This is one of our favorite autocross venues\, offering plenty of space to let your Porsche stretch its legs for the first autocross of the season.\nWhat is autocross? Autocross consists of navigating your car as quickly as possible through a course made of cones. It's a great way for any licensed driver to improve skills in his or her weekend sports car or everyday street car. We provide coaches to new autocross drivers who will ride with you and provide pointers. For safety reasons\, there is only ever one car on the course at a time\, and the course is designed to keep speeds relatively low. Each of your runs will be timed\, so that you can evaluate how much improvement you make on successive runs throughout the day. Come on out and give it a try. You will be AMAZED at how much progress you will make in one day! Without exception\, people who autocross comment about how their autocross experience has improved confidence and ability with everyday driving on the street.\nVolunteers are always needed to help set up the course\, which is unique for every autocross event. Volunteers meet at 8 AM\, so arrive early if you can. If you can't be available to volunteer\, then just show up at 9 AM for driver sign-in. We reserve the right to refuse registrations after 9:35\, as late arrivals impact our ability to run the day on schedule. First cars will run no later than 10 AM\, following a drivers' safety meeting. The day's schedule depends on the number of entries\, but we usually take a quick lunch break around noon\, and wrap up by 3 PM.\nThis event is open to PCA members and friends\, so put the word out to enthusiast friends and licensed drivers who would like to come and learn to autocross\, or to get some more practice in. A helmet carrying a 2010 (or newer) Snell "M" or "SA" rating is required\, although we have loaners available. The entry fee is $30 for paid-up PCA members\, and $35 for all others. As always\, IRPCA members bringing a Porsche and participating in autocross for the first time run FREE!\nCome on out and give autocross a try! The social environment is low-key\, and the level of intensity you bring to the driving is completely up to you.

SUMMARY:Cars and Coffee - SLCC automotive education program
DESCRIPTION:Our next club event is a Cars and Coffee at Salt Lake Community College in Sandy. The morning will include a tour of the college's Automotive Education program. Led by Dennis O'Reilly we'll be taken through the departments and shops used to educate students in preparation for a career in the automotive engineering industry. Lots of cool projects and equipment (Hunter balancing system\, laser alignment methods\, engine dept.\, body work\, paint methods\, etc.) to see.\nWe will also have the opportunity to recognize Dennis and the some of the current students who support our club so well. We owe them a huge THANK YOU for all of the volunteer hours. For those not aware\, Dennis O'Reilly has worked with our volunteer coordinator and club member Diane Johnstone\, to provide a group of students each year who have come out to our HPDE track days\, PCA Club Races\, and even to our Amazing Rally days. At each of these events\, the students provide help as needed at grid and some of the flag stations. It's a symbiotic relationship. IRPCA gets volunteer help. The students get exposure to racing and event management surrounding track days.\nSo come on out\, enjoy the day\, and show your support for the "class of 2018" from the SLCC automotive education program.\nLocation: Salt Lake City Community College\, 9750 South\, 300 West\, Sandy\, Utah.\n(On the frontage road\, just west of Interstate 15 and next to the Colonial Flag building)\nDate and Time: February 24th from 9:30 - 11:00 am\nBeverages and Snacks will be served!

SUMMARY:Cars and Coffee
DESCRIPTION:Cars and Coffee returns to the calendar beginning this month. During the colder months when many of our favorites go into garage hibernation\, we schedule "Cars and Coffee" gatherings as a way to continue the social connections that form during the warmer months when driving activities are the norm. Yeah\, we know...traditional Cars and Coffee meets are in the summer months where everyone brings cars to a parking lot and just hangs out. Our approach is different. Our goal is to find locations where we can watch or learn something that we've not seen before\, have coffee and snacks\, and make face to face connections. \nFirst up will be a "Movie Morning" featuring 3 relatively short videos. Two of the three are about Porsche. One is about the 50th anniversary of the 911\, and another features a bit of history on the Porsche brand and technology. The third is a 10 minute film made in the 1970's about which little was known until the 2000's. It should appeal to any car enthusiast who enjoys spirited driving- especially if you are familiar with the streets of Paris! \nJoin us if you can:\nDate: Saturday\, October 28th\nTime: 9:30 sharp (until around 11:30)\nLocation: Park City Library where we have a special room reserved for viewing\n1225 Park Ave.\, Park City\, Utah \nThanks to new member Mandy Hales for suggesting the idea and setting up the venue! \nAnd stay tuned for our November C&C that will feature a guided tour of the restoration of a wide variety of older vehicles. If this sounds fun\, then hold your calendar right now for Saturday morning November 11th! Stay tuned.

The event called "Canyonlands by Night" will include a "Cowboy Buffet" \, followed by a spotlight illuminated jet boat tour up the Colorado River\, highlighting the geologic and settlement history of the river and region. It IS an optional event\, as there are lots of places to eat and hang out within 3 blocks of the hotel in downtown Moab. We have a special rate per person\, of $61 including tax and gratuities (versus a normal price of $69 excluding tax and gratuities). This rate will hold as long as we get 20 or more people signed up for the dinner and tour. As IRPCA will be billed for our attendees 30 days in advance\, we will be asking for you to decide "yay" or "nay" on the boat tour\, during this registration process. Dinner will be at 6pm and the boat tour will depart from the dinner location at 7pm\, concluding shortly after 9pm. More details on the activity can be found at www.canyonlandsbynight.com.  We'll be back in Moab with plenty of time for continuing fun into the evening! Dinner and tour reservations made after August 23rd\, may be sold out\, or may be subject to the un-disounted rate of $69 per person plus taxes and gratuities. If you are signing up after this date and want to join the dinner tour\, please contact the organizer (Rich Sanders at 801-231-0400)\, who will contact to tour operator to confirm availability and rate per person. \nSunday's tour will head south and east from Moab to the Unaweep Tabeguache Scenic Byway in Colorado\, and will then head north to Gateway Colorado where we will end the joint tour at the Gateway Auto Museum. Museum details can be found at www.gatewayautomuseum.com

SUMMARY:8th Annual AMAZING RALLY
DESCRIPTION:What is an Amazing Rally?  It's a gimmick rally which is a cousin to the traditional Time/Speed/Distance Rally\, but with a twist. Instead of being concerned with Time and Speed\, teams are given questions to answer along the route based on the passing scenery. Additionally\, several challenges are setup along the route\, giving teams a chance to get out and stretch and test their skills against the other teams in fun and amazing ways. \nEach team consists of a car\, a driver and a navigator. So put your team together and come prepared to be amazed. \nThe starting point for "AR8" will be the parking lot at Triumph Gear Systems in Park City.
